  14. Thank you to all who responded with helpful answers, suggestions and opinions 
  15. to my questions regarding modems (and one TCP/IP question).

  17. The answers were not as black and white as I (and several rude and obnoxious 
  18. know-it-alls) had thought, and I'm glad I asked.
  19.

  22. For the "experts" who made snide observations about my job title:

  24. *  You are yet to realise that not every net-related job is a technical 
  25. position for a gun System Admin/Comms guru
  26. *  You don't seem to realise that not every company on the net has the 
  27. technical expertise in-house to run a TCP/IP connection - a lot rely on ISPs 
  28. to provide such service, and they like to validate the advice they receive 
  29. against an objective source.
  30. * You've *obviously* never asked a question of others just to make sure you're 
  31. giving the boss the latest information in a particular field.

  33. Perhaps you might see one day, that when you don't have all the facts it's 
  34. wisest to keep your assumptions to yourself lest *you* look the fool...
